Vivienne Decker has spent her entire adult life outrunning her father’s obsession, the mythological city of Petiti. Looking for it killed her parents and has drawn dangerous people to her door ever since. She’s done with all of it.

Then someone drugs her, puts her in a crate, and ships her to the middle of the South American wilderness.

The man who pulls her out isn’t a hero, at least not the kind anyone would recognize. He’s a mercenary with a complicated past and a very good reason to walk away. But he can’t. What follows is a fight for survival through some of the most unforgiving terrain on earth, a quest for an ancient, lost city, and a study in what it means to protect someone when it would make much more sense not to.
